Giles Wilson

Melinda joined Giles Wilson in 1986, undertaking probate work while studying part-time to become a solicitor. Admitted to the Roll in 1997, she subsequently became a partner at the firm, alongside her brother Philip, and she now deals mainly with wills, trusts and probate issues, as well as Court of Protection work.
As well as being a member of Solicitors for the Elderly and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, Melinda is also on the Office of the Public Guardian Panel of Professional Deputies.
Philip joined Giles Wilson in 1997 as a partner, having previously worked in general practice in London and as a partner at a firm in Kent. Working alongside his sister, Philip deals with a broad range of contentious matters, including matrimonial law, inheritance claims, commercial litigation, personal injury and landlord/tenant law.
In addition, Philip also specialises in helping clients receiving residential nursing care by challenging Health Authorities to increase NHS contributions to their nursing home fees.
Philip is a member of both the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists and Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association). He is also a qualified mediator, with full accreditation from the Civic Mediation Council.
John began practising law in 1973, joining Giles Wilson six years later and since that time John has specialised exclusively in residential and commercial conveyancing, handling properties across the UK. In terms of local knowledge, he is unsurpassed, having helped clients buy or sell property in practically every street across the boroughs of Southend-on-Sea and Castle Point.
Commercially speaking, John has dealt with businesses big and small, assisting with the purchase and sale of retail units, hotels and shopping centres, both regionally and nationally.
Vincent joined Giles Wilson in 2007, having qualified as a solicitor in 1997. He had previously worked in the construction industry for 15 years.
Providing expertise in a broad range of contentious matters, Vincent handles a variety of cases, including those dealing with clinical negligence, civil/contract and employment disputes and all areas of matrimonial and family law.
Caroline joined Giles Wilson in 2005 to complete the practical side of her training, qualifying as a solicitor in 2007.
Caroline specialises in a mix of employment law and family/matrimonial law. She undertakes work for both employees and employers on a range of legal issues, including discrimination and unfair dismissal. She also deals with a wide variety of family and matrimonial cases with particular focus on divorce, child maintenance and disputes involving children, including contact and residence disputes, as well as care proceedings and other public child care issues.
Caroline is also a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
Paul joined the Giles Wilson team in 2008, after qualifying as a solicitor from the University of Hertfordshire.
Working primarily in conveyancing, Paul undertakes work on behalf of both commercial and private clients.
