Giles Wilson has always been dedicated to providing the finest legal advice and support to those considered vulnerable to exploitation. We listen to their legal needs and seek to offer expert guidance and reassurance to both our client and their loved ones that we will act with their best interests in mind.
To that end, our firm has been delighted at the opportunity to support Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE), a non-profit organisation devoted to the protection and fair treatment of older and vulnerable clients. Founded in 1996, it has grown into a huge, national body, which recruits the talents of over 1500 specialist lawyers in handling legal matters for the elderly.
SFE has numerous positive aims that it has been seeking to promote since its formation. It raises awareness of legal issues that typically affect older and vulnerable clients, in order to ensure they are addressed and combated. It is also a centre of excellence for experts in this field.
Its key focus is to become the first port of call for anybody considered elderly or vulnerable who is seeking legal guidance in any matter whatsoever. There is no doubt that they are reaching this goal, with their tremendous collection of experienced professionals. And, we are proud to have a member of our firm among their impressive ranks.
Our partner, Melinda Giles, is now an associate member of Solicitors for the Elderly, and has produced sterling work in upholding the mission statements of the organisation. She has recently finished her accreditation and passed her Older Client Care in Practice assessment, which after September 2016 will be the fundamental qualification to be referred by the SFE.
We heartily congratulate Melinda on this accomplishment, as it places her among the most reputable names in the area of protecting the vulnerable. As a part of this assessment procedure, she also produced an exceptional Vulnerable Client Policy for Giles Wilson that met the SFE’s high standards.
Throughout this policy, Melinda expressed our firm’s commitment to provide elderly and vulnerable clients additional consideration and support, both for them and their families, whilst also treating them with the utmost dignity and respect. She continued by expressing our use of plain English in discussing legal matters with clients, our excellent disabled access, and our willingness to keep up correspondence with the client in any way they prefer, be it via e-mail or post.
Our work with Solicitors for the Elderly has been a rewarding experience, allowing us to continue our ideology of empowering the elderly and vulnerable, in Essex and around the UK. Giles Wilson solicitors, in Leigh-on-Sea and Rochford, continue to offer a wide range of legal services for those considered vulnerable and their loved ones, from advice on care home fees to final years planning.
