GW Moot 2022
The competition is on! #GWmoot
Last night, we had the pleasure of hosting our first ever Virtual Careers Event. The Event, which took place via Zoom, provided an opportunity for Year 12 students to gain an insight into the day-to-day working lives of the lawyers at Giles Wilson.
During the event, we hosted a Q&A session where our team of Trainee Solicitors and Paralegals shared their tips on employability within the legal sector.
Whilst we were delighted to be able to offer this Event to local students, the Event also allowed us to launch our GW Moot 2022, which we are re-launching after being put on hold for two years, following the pandemic. We are excited to announce that the First Round will be taking place in the evening on Thursday 10 February 2022.
Much like the CVP hearings that took place during the pandemic, and are now in some cases a normal part of dealing with Court proceedings, the First Round will take place in an online, ‘virtual Court’. The First Round is an unopposed bail application where students will present their arguments to a panel of our lawyers. More details about the First Round and preparation packs will be shared with schools in the next few weeks. Students will have at least four weeks to prepare for each round and put forward any questions they may have before the First Round.
The GW Moot is not just designed for those who want to
become lawyers; rather it is an opportunity to gain invaluable experience in
advocacy. Even if you decide that a career in the legal profession is not for
you, we hope that the GW Moot will provide participants with an opportunity to
enhance or even create an extremely useful skillset. We could not be more
excited to see how the participants will perform in the First Round, and encourage all students from whatever background or educational setting to apply.
If you have not already done so, there is still plenty of time to register interest in the GW Moot. You will need to confirm your teams before the First Round so if your instruction is interested in taking part, please send an email to email@example.com.
