Pippa Bavington Spotlight: Pippa Bavington

Spotlight: Pippa Bavington | Giles Wilson

Pippa is a Private Client Solicitor in her final year of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP) Diploma with former employment in complaint-handling and the Financial Ombudsman Service.  With this background, and ongoing professional development, the focus of Pippa’s work is on attention to detail and striving to provide excellent client care.

Pippa’s work covers the preparation of Wills, including more complex arrangements and making provisions for disabled or vulnerable beneficiaries. She also handles Lasting Powers of Attorney, Probate applications and administration, and the registration and administration of Trusts. Within Property Law, Pippa has experience in some aspects of property ownership, such as the alteration of ownership type as well as the declarations in relation to this. Often when taking instructions on Wills, this will also incorporate Inheritance Tax advice and some fundamental planning tips, identifying where more in-depth advice may be required.

Pippa’s desire to use law in order to help people, originated from her A-level and university studies, and has been carried into practice. One way this is demonstrated is through her setting up a free legal ‘drop-in’ session at Rochford Library, with a view to assisting the local community.

This is otherwise reflected by the way Pippa takes great satisfaction in assisting more sensitive or difficult matters, such as end of life decisions, death-bed Wills, and very elderly or otherwise vulnerable clients. With a patient approach, Pippa explains the legal complexities in such a way that the client, family, and any other carers or supporting individuals can understand. Through experience, Pippa has learnt how to tailor communication to suit the individual in question; this, in turn, helps the client to understand their legal options, assists them in achieving their objectives, and puts their mind at ease.
